Kaizer Chiefs secured the bragging rights in the Soweto Derby after defeating Orlando Pirates 2-1 at FNB Stadium on Saturday,
Despite losing to Stellenbosch FC in midweek, Chiefs made no wholesale changes as Keagan Dolly made his derby debut. A derby debut for Pirates saw Ghanaian forward Kwame Peprah preferred.
The much-anticipated clash started cagey as Phathutshedzo Nange's low shot and Khama Billiat's free-kick had Chiefs closest to the lead in the midst of Fortune Makaringe's cross-cum-shot out wide.

Pirates began to see a lot of the ball and subsequent forward play and brought Peprah, Linda Mntambo and Ntsako Makhubela to the end of all the aforementioned initiatives.
The Buccaneers should've been ahead at halftime through Makaringe's late header in the area following a cross from the right side, but his effort sailed wide of Daniel Akpeyi's goal.
After a bright start to the second half, Pirates fell behind on four minutes in when Dolly met a low pass from Billiat to curl in from an unmarked position after Thulani Hlatshwayo had given the ball away.
The Buccaneers began to urgently look for a way back following the midway stage and came close with a half-volley in the area by Peprah.
Pirates threw on three offensive substitutions near the closing periods in Bandile Shandu, Terrence Dzvukamanja and Tshegofatso Mabasa.
The Amakhosi looked to add to their tally from a one-on-one by Billiat ten minutes from time, but Siyabonga Mpontshane made a superb point-blank save.
Pirates worked their way back in the last four minutes when Mntambo pounced on poor handling from goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi to slot into the net following Dzvukamanja's initial shot.
Although, the final belonged to the Amakhosi as Dolly beat Mpontshane from the penalty-spot following a foul by Olisha Ndah on Billiat, as the match concluded in favour of the host.
