Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Chris Matombo has made a return to local football to join a GladAfrica Championship side after spending time in Malta.
The 27-year-old, who also played for Chippa United, has joined Sekhukhune United following a spell with Senglea Athletic.
snl24.com/kickoff has gathered that Matombo has signed a season-long contract with an option to extend.
"'Matombo is back in the country, he has joined Sekhukhune United. They've agreed on one year with an option to extend the deal," a close source reveals.
Sekhukhune have already showed their intention to become one of the best-run teams in South African football under the leadership of Simon and Jonas Malatjie, who have assembled a strong squad including the likes of Morgan Gould and Jabulani Maluleke.
The Limpopo side have started their debut season well and are currently third on the GladAfrica Championship table after five matches.
