Bloemfontein Celtic confirmed on Monday that midfielder Given Mashikinya has become the second PSL player to contract the coronavirus, after Orlando Pirates' Ben Motshwari.
Clubs have been conducting player testing after the League sent out a communique last week to advise clubs to prepare for football training to resume once government gives the go-ahead.
In the document, which was leaked to media, PSL acting CEO Mato Madlala outlined the protocols and measures to be taken before clubs can resume group training.
Following the routine tests, Mashikinya's results came back positive and has since been ordered into a 14-day quarantine, the club have confirmed.
"Bloemontein Celtic can confirm that after we have conducted Covid-19 tests on Friday, 19 June 2020, one player [Given Mashikinya] tested positive," read a statement from Phunya Sele Sele.
The club further noted that the former Cape Town City attacker is asymptomatic and that his health has remained in a good state.
"The player was and still is asymptomatic and is currently in isolation for the next 14 days," added the statement.
