Black Leopards' Roggert Nyundu eyes PSL move in January

Nyundu was a huge subject of interest during the last transfer window after scoring 19 goals during the second half of last season while on loan at Leopards from Polokwane City.

However, he has been slow off the blocks this season with just a single goal to date for Leopards, yet still harbours hopes of a PSL move in the near future.

“I still hold that desire of playing in the PSL which I am keen to see happening in January, though I am aware that for that to happen I have to bang the goals like I did last season,” Nyundu tells snl24.com/kickoff.

“I know that once I score as many as 9-10 goals in the next few months leading to the opening of the January transfer window,  offers will come in and I will hopefully be able to leave.

“I really need to test myself on the big stage in the PSL as soon as possible. Luckily for me, my wife is now here with me in Limpopo, so I know that goals will start raining again because she is my lucky charm. I don’t want to wait for way long to play in the PSL.”

The 27-year-old says he has found goals harder to come by this term because he feels opponents are now targeting him by employing two markers to cover him at all times, yet is confident the goals will come soon.

“I have only scored just once this season because all opponents are planning around me and Siphelele Ntshangase,” he says. “So my teammates need to come to the party by using the spaces created by opponents crowding me.

“I know that some people might be quick to start criticising me and calling me a one-season wonder, but the fact is that I will score again once my confidence gets going. All I need is to score a brace, after that I can achieve 10 goals in another five matches.

“Once the floodgates open, I will be scoring every week,” he says.

Nyundu made headlines for revealing that he was earning a mere R5000 at Polokwane City last season.
