Richards Bay FC head coach Brandon Truter enjoyed a winning start in the Betway Premiership after a 1-0 win over TS Galaxy on Sunday afternoon.
Galaxy made three changes from their loss against Stellenbosch in the MTN8, as Ivorian goalkeeper Eliezer Ira Tape was handed his debut alongside surprise starts of Kganyane Letsoenyo and Thokozani Sibanyoni.
Richards Bay, on the hand, gave debuts to new signings, former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Siyethemba Sithebe, Keegan Allan and Mamelodi Sundowns loanee Thabang Sibanyoni.
The Natal Rich Boyz had a bright start, as they put the Rockets under pressure in the early stages.
It came as no surprise, as Allan broke the deadlock for Brandon Truter's charges midway into the first stanza with a header from a cross by Lwandile Mabuya.
The hosts, however, could not maintain their attacking momentum and shortly before the break, they had an injury blow after Sithebe had to be substituted and was replaced by Moses Mthembu.
Sead Ramovic's men only came close to equalising on the stroke of half-time after Thokozani Sibanyoni's shot in the bottom corner was kept out by shot-stopper Salim Magoola.
Galaxy still needed to improve their attacking game from the break but they struggled again to create chances in the early stages of the second stanza.
With 20 minutes to go, Ramovic eventually made an attacking and tactical change, as he brought on new signing Nhlanhla Mgaga in place of Mpho Mvelase.
The Rockets threw everything at Richards Bay in the last ten minutes, as new recruit Victor Letsoalo also replaced Marks Munyai to reinforce their attack.
The visitors, however, faced a low block from the Natal Rich Boyz, who defended in numbers and could not create clear opportunities, as Truter's men clinched maximum points.
