With roughly four rounds of Absa Premiership fixtures remaining this year, snl24.com/kickoff takes a look at which clubs have performed best over the course of 2019 alone.
The year is fast approaching its close, with one more round of fixtures left in November before the league takes a break for the festive period from December 22 and returning again on 3 January 2020.

Up to this point, the number of fixtures played by each of the 16 teams vary, with newbies Stellenbosch understandably playing much less than the rest, but where does each team rank accoridng to their results from the calendar year thus far?
Down at the bottom of the table, Stellies have managed just 11 points from their 11 top flight games this year, having won two, drawn five and lost four since being crowned First Division champions in May.
On average, most of the remaining 15 Premiership teams have played 26 matches, with the exception of reigning champions Mamelodi Sundowns (28) and Bidvest Wits (22) – both of whom have been in involved in CAF interclub competitions, though Downs have played more due to their catch-up fixtures being squeezed in.

Nonetheless, The Brazilians remain at the summit of the 2019 league table, having accumulated 55 points from 16 wins, seven draws and five losses.
In spite of their calamtous end to the 2018/19 season, current log leaders Kaizer Chiefs have risen to second spot – nine points back of Sundowns, with 13 victories, seven draws and six defeats in the league this year.
Hot on their heals, however, is last season's runners-up Orlando Pirates, who came within a whisker of claiming the title ahead of their Tshwane counterparts in May, having tallied 43 points from 11 wins, 10 stalemates and five defeats in 2019.
Cape Town City, who releived coach Benni McCarthy of the head coach job earlier this month, come in at fourth position but have scored the highest number of goals in their 27 matches this year (46) – leading Sundowns and Pirates, who are both on 39.
Meanwhile, the team with the worst defence over the past 11 months so far is Black Leopards, who have conceded 38 goals in 26 matches and find themselves 12th on the overall log standings for 2019.
