Supporters Forum: Mkhovu

In this edition of Supporters Forum, KickOff speaks to Mpumalanga province-based Orlando Pirates fan Nkosinathi Mavimbela about his long-standing affair with the Buccaneers.

Name of supporter?

"Nkosinathi Mavimbela, I'm based in Emalahleni, Phola in Ogies.

"Currently I'm unemployed, but sometimes I do piece jobs in the local power stations.

"What I do now I calculate the games and save that particular amount."

Club supported?

"In the beginning, I was a Mamelodi Sundowns supporter, but that was because I was staying in Soshanguve in Pretoria.

"When I left Pretoria for Mpumalanga, I noticed that there were branches and people were more active.

"The way people were so pumped up in Mpumalanga about the Soweto Derby made me switch to Orlando Pirates.

"Because I'm the smallest in our branch it was suggested I should be given the name Mkhovu [a goblin]."

How long supported?

"I supported Sundowns for three years before switching to Orlando Pirates.

"I started supporting Pirates after the 2010 soccer World Cup."

Are you happy with the bosses?

"I am happy. We currently feel like we've won a treble last season, the MTN8, Nedbank Cup and we've clinched a CAF Champions League spot."

Are you happy with the coach?

"Very happy. This person reminds me of the likes of Ruud Krol, our coach knows his story and as supporters, we are very happy with him."

JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA - MAY 06: Orlando Pira

Are you happy with the players?

"Very happy, it's just that as supporters we sometimes disappoint our own players by booing them.

"And most of the time it's those who only come to the Stadium when Pirates is playing Kaizer Chiefs or Mamelodi Sundowns."

Who do you want them to sign?

"So far I'm happy with what I've seen. I mean the four players that were announced recently. The only person missing in our squad is Lesedi Kapinga."

Your message to the team?

"They must continue pushing, what we need now is the league title and a star [CAF Champions League).

"As for the coach he must just do his substitutions on time and not wait until there is only10 minutes left."
