Supporters Forum: Frans Monyai

In this edition of Supporters Forum, KickOff speaks to Orlando Pirates die-hard supporter Frans Monyai about his long-standing affair with the Sea Robbers.

Munyai, popularly known as Jomo, says last season he spent exactly R80 000 following the Buccaneers wherever they played.

Name of supporter?

"In football, I'm known as Jomo 110. I'm based in Pretoria, Garankuwa. I used to play professionally, I played for Jomo Cosmos, and Bra J is the one who gave me the name Jomo.

"I'm working as a sales rep where I work. I was born in 1985, on 9 November. In the stands I'm part of the crew that hit the drums, we call ourselves centreline. I live, breathe and die soccer."

Club supported?

"I have never supported any other team except Orlando Pirates. My father was a hardcore Pirates supporter. So, I have been supporting Pirates since birth.

"My first time at the Stadium was at the age of two, at Odi Stadium in Mabopane."

Are you happy with the bosses?

"I think Dr Khoza is now taking control of the club, I'm happy with the current situation, though not entirely happy regarding the support base.

"I feel as supporters we are not recognised by the football bosses. Last season I attended all the Pirates games, and in total, I spent R80 000."

Are you happy with the coach?

"Jose Riveiro, this is his second season, and I give him 10 out of 10. Last season he won all the cup competitions and came second on the log table. This season he has won the MTN8."

Are you happy with the players?

"100%. Riveiro has installed stability and togetherness in the squad. You could see the pain and the sadness of the players when we were knocked out of the CAF Champions League."

Who do you want them to sign?

"We just relying too much on Zakhele Lepasa upfront, I think in January they must bring back Tshegofatso Mabasa and Gaston Sirino is lurking, they must sign him before our neighbours pounce on him."

Your message to the team?

"Thank you, Dr. Irvin Khoza and your management, thank you our technical team and supporters. The past two seasons we've been the happiest fans."
