Story Behind My Nickname: Jimmy "Gusheshe" Kauleza

In our latest edition of Story Behind My Nickname, KickOff catches up with former Orlando Pirates and Free State Stars player Jimmy Kauleza on the origin behind his popular nickname "Gusheshe".

Kauleza spent three three seasons at Orlando Pirates making 55 appearances and registering 7 goals before departing for JomoCosmos in  2005.

Who and where did you play?

"I'm from Viljoenskroon in the Free State. I moved to Klerksdorp after my father found a job working in the mines.

"That's where I started playing football. I was nine years old at the time.

"I played for Klerksdorp City, the very same team that the likes of Phil Masinga, Gert Schalkwyk and Moses Spandeel played for.

"Together with Spandeel, I went for open trials at Free State Stars. But Spandeel didn't make it, so he went to Bloemfontein Celtic. It's me and Gert Schalkwyk that impressed at Stars. That's how I turned professional. It was back in 2000."
