Pirates star: We had a plan with the coach

Orlando Pirates wingback Thabiso Monyane has opened up on his Man-of-the-Match performance in a 1-0 win over Richards Bay FC as the Soweto giants set a new club record of seven straight league wins.

Pirates tighten their grip at the summit of the Betway Premiership with the victory over the Natal Rich Boyz at Orlando Stadium thanks to a first-half Evidence Makgopa strike.

The lanky marksman was first to react to a rebound when Richards Bay keeper Ian Otieno scrambled to keep out a venomous shot from Monyane.

Speaking to the club's media after the match, the speedy player shared some insight into his impressive display.

"It was not easy playing against Richards Bay. Especially against Richards Bay, it's never easy to play against them," Monyane reflected.

"But we managed to get the victory and we are just thankful for it. We've been working on it from day one with the coach. We had a plan. We knew how to play and my role was really crucial and I'm just glad I executed it well.

"Today was extra special because it was the coach's 100th match. So, it was just special. We don't want to let the momentum slip right now, we know we are going to the FIFA break, but we know we have a lot of work ahead of us," added the 24-year-old.
