'I just think it’s pure bad luck' - Riveiro on City's winning goal

Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro found it difficult to explain the side's 1-0 loss to Cape Town City in on Wednesday evening.

With the loss, Pirates remain second on the table and missed the chance to go to the top of the table ahead of Mamelodi Sundowns, who didn't feature on the night.

The Buccaneers got a host of chances in either half to pull clear but drew blanks before Darwin Gonzalez popped up to get the winner late on.

"I cannot do analysis now, actually quite difficult to explain the final result. I think the difference between the two teams was too big this time with all the respect for the game of Cape Town City," Riveiro told SuperSport TV.

"But It's difficult to explain that we lost this game the way we did but this is football. They managed to put one ball in the net.

"We didn't but I think a very complete performance. We did everything in order to win the match, there's no much that you can do so to the next one," he continued.

Granted the chances, the Spaniard believes luck wasn't on their side and sighted the manner they succumbed and turns attention back to the CAF Champions League with CR Belouizdad on Sunday.

"No, I just think it's pure bad luck in this case if you see the way they score. It's something not normal, but like I said we were Pirates tonight.

"We played the football that we've been playing before and there were other games we played that we didn't play the football that we played before and got the results today we couldn't make it. Now we have to put our heads to the next one today is gone," Riveiro said.
