Mkhize reveals all on his life after football

In this edition of Where Are They Now former Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs striker Phumlani "BMX" Mkhize reveals what he is up to these days.

Mkhize says he has been busy with coaching licenses as he looks to equip himself so he can plough back to the community.

"At the moment I'm still putting my life together, I'm from the CAF C license coaching course as I'm speaking to you," Mkhize tells KickOff.

"I'm currently focused on development, but I'm looking forward to coaching at higher levels.

"For me to progress in this coaching career I need to first get this coaching license.

"But I'm done now, just waiting for the license."

Mkhize admits life after football has not been easy for him and struggled to bring football to the table.

"I'm currently based in Escourt here in KwaZulu-Natal.

"It's my parent's place, I sold my house and went back home, but I've already started looking for my own place.

"Though I have never had a wife, I do have children, but can't go into too much detail on that.

"Life sometimes can take its own turn and leave you dry. You are forced to start all over again. As a human being, I also had to go through such challenges.

"But it's not like things were that much bad you see, it's just that it's always not easy to survive without an income."

Mkhize hopes the new trend of clubs hiring strikers coaches will help change the life of former players.

"Ya, I think it's trending right now to have a coach for strikers, even the likes of Manchester United have Benni McCarthy."
