Reneilwe Letsholonyane looking to boost confidence ahead CAF Confederation Cup showdown

Matsatsantsa face Cape Town City in the MTN8 final at Moses Mabhida Stadium this evening, before they take on Club Africain in a second-leg encounter on October 22. They played to a 1-1 draw in the first meeting at Lucas Moripe Stadium prior to the international break.

“You know in sports when you win your confidence grows, so it will definitely help us a lot. We want to go out there, compete and represent the country well on the continent.”

After Mamelodi Sundowns were knocked out of the Champions League, SuperSport are now South Africa’s only representatives in club competition on the continent.

All eyes will be on them to do well and hopefully lift a continental title after Sundowns' success last year, but Letsholonyane says they are not feeling any pressure. They are enjoying the experience of playing on the continent and he believes it will benefit them going forward.

“I don’t think we have any pressure. We have never had pressure, even when we started playing in this competition. Even now that we are in the semi-final, nothing has changed.

“For us it’s been about enjoying and getting the experience,” he says.

“Continental experience will help us for the local league. We are enjoying it.”

Letsholonyane will have a key role to play in the final tonight with his battle in midfield against ex-Sundowns playmaker Teko Modise.
