Orlando Pirates to miss Abel Mabaso and Thembinkosi Lorch for MTN8 final

Orlando Pirates coach Josef Zinnbauer has issued an alert of three injuries currently in their camp as they prepare for the MTN8 final this weekend.

Pirates are set to do battle with Bloemfontein Celtic for a whopping R8-million cash prize as well as the first cup of the 2020/21 season at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.

The Buccaneers will be looking to bring to an end a harrowing six-year trophy drought, with coach Zinnbauer set to face his first shot at a piece of silverware since arriving in the PSL in December last year.

However, they will be without the services of key attacker Thembinkosi Lorch and Abel Mabaso, while defender Thabiso Monyane is currently doubtful.

"We have all players [except] Mabaso is injured and Lorch is injured; Monyane is injured, but there's a chance he can come back [in time for Saturday]," Zinnbauer told the media.

"Yeah, I think that's the only thing we have on the injured players."

Probed on competing in his maiden cup final, the German tactician reflected on the tough road they have travelled as he assured they have a plan for an unpredictable Celtic outfit.

"I'm happy we have the final, this was hard work for us, with tough games behind us. Now we are happy to be in the final, and we do our best to try and win this final," he added.

"We know we have a good opponent in this game, it's a tough game, the opponent is strong and they won against Sundowns – we know this, we have the information of what they do.

"But we have a plan and I feel a very good spirit in training, the mood is good, and I think we are [headed] in the right direction."
