First division clubs are scrambling to get a piece of the pie from the South Gauteng High Court, where a legal battle is ensuing following grievances between the Premier Soccer League and a SAFA arbitrator.
Mpumalanga-based TS Sporting are the latest club to have lodged a complaint against Jomo Cosmos for fielding less than five under-23 players in a game that took place in January.
This will be added onto the case of Polokwane City, who are challenging the award of arbitrator Hilton Epstein, who handed Sekhukhune three points over Rise and Shine's failure to field the prescribed minimum amount of under-23 players back in January.
Sporting, who finished fourth on the Championship table with 49 points, could now overtake Richards Bay – also sitting at 49 – and dislodge them into the promotion play-offs spot if the court upholds Epstein's award.
The court hearing is scheduled to take place on Friday, where Royal AM will also be keen observers in a decision that could decide their DStv Premiership promotion fate.
"Let's wait for Friday. Ja, anything can still happen. We are just waiting for the matter to come and pass. If we did not believe we had a strong case then we were not going to take it to court. We only take matters up when we have got confidence in our case," Sporting chairman Slugu Thobela tells snl24.com/kickoff.
