R6 million offered for PSL status

Amounts that have been offered to Cape Town All Stars owner Lunga Ncwana for his club's Motsepe Foundation status have finally been revealed.

According to insiders at the club, newly relegated Black Leopards are leading the race for Stars status as they are the only club that is prepared to put their money where their mouth is.

All Stars are currently in 4th position on the log table, with only a single match to play.

"Initially what Thidiela [Leopards chairman] offered them was little, it was something between R6 million and R9 million. They refused that offer. If Leopards can put R12 million offer, then Lunga will take it. He is not desperate Lunga though, he is a rich young man." The first insider reveals to KickOff.

According to a second source, there is a few people who are looking to buy the club, but their problem is money.

"Yes, the team is still up for sale, the club has been asking people to send formal offers and people are not doing that, the last person to call yesterday he said he was sending a formal offer today [Thursday].

"That last person who phoned was talking about R10 million, there is another one who wants to buy the status for R11 million.

"Most of these people who've been calling are from Durban, Mpumalanga province and Polokwane. There was only one from Eastern Cape. People must just send concrete offers that's it.

"Another thing Lunga is not desperate to sell the status, if no concrete offer is coming, he is going to take the team back to Cape Town next season.

"Because in Jozi another problem is the facilities, stadiums are not available, and everything costs double compared to Cape Town, even the doctors."
