AmaTuks tame Lions in five-goal thriller

Kruger United 1-0 Cape Town Spurs

Kruger United got their second win of the season in the Motsepe Foundation Championship with a 1-0 triumph over Cape Town City on Sunday.

The promoted outfit, who have had a difficult adaptation to life in the second tier, started the match rock bottom but set the tone in the first spell and carried on throughout for the win.

Given the win, Kruger move two spots from the basement of the table and into 14th position ahead of a certain Venda Football Academy.

University of Pretoria 3-2 Hungry Lions

University of Pretoria rallied from behind to defeat Hungry Lions 3-2 in an entertaining clash and moved into the top eight.

There were drama from the onset with Tuks going ahead earlier on before Di Tau replied with a spot-kick after a hand-ball in the six-yard area and evidently went ahead a while later.

A bit of good fortune brought the host on level terms when Thato Mohlamonyane's inviting cross culminated into an own-goal as the defence looked to clear their lines.

In the end, AmaTuks claimed all the points with a fine finish from Tshepang Makara and completely shattered the visiting boys' chances of salvaging any point.

Highbury FC 1-0 JDR Stars

Highbury FC engineered their first win of the season in the Motsepe Foundation Championship through a 1-0 victory over JDR Stars on Friday.

The defeat dents the Hammerboys ambitions to surge up the table and keep the early front-runners firmly on their toes, whereas the new boys ended a run of unsatisfactory outcomes.

A finish from Mzoxolo Rafani were just what the host needed to finally hit the ground running in their maiden campaign in the second tier.

Black Leopards 2-1 Durban City

Durban City surrendered top spot in the Motsepe Foundation Championship and furthermore picked up their first loss of the season after going down 2-1 to Black Leopards on Saturday.

Lidoda Duvha were desperate to return to get their campaign back on track and raced into a two-goal advantage at the break.

The Team of Choice did pull one back before the interval with Maseko on strike, but in the end it wasn't enough to stage a comeback as the host emerged victorious.

Milford Stallions 3-0 Leruma United

Promotion-chasing Milford Stallions got back to winning ways and dished out a dominant 3-0 victory over the struggling Leruma United.

The men from KwaZulu-Natal made a fast start and took a commanding two-goal lead at the break before adding a third in the second period.

Leruma now remain in the bottom-half in the wake of the loss and in the process saw their two-match winning run come to an end.

Upington City 1-2 Orbit College

Orbit College continued to revive their campaign after recording a 2-1 victory over Upington City in the Northern Cape province.

The visitors came into the match with their tails up following last weekend's 3-0 drubbing over Milford Stallions, with Upington held by Cape Town Spurs.

Bafana Ba Gucci were on the back-foot from the word go as the visiting outfit struck twice in quick succession before Bafana Mokwena grabbed a consolation late on.

Casric Stars 2-3 Venda Football Academy

Venda Football Academy bagged a second straight win to move slightly up the table following a 3-2 victory over Casric Stars in an action-packed clash at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.

In as much as it's successive wins for Venda, the complete opposite for the host and stretched their winless run to three matches in the process.

Zebulon Mtshweni, Khogothatso Mariba and last-minute finish from Judas Moseamedi were enough to get Venda over the lines, with Lesego Sebetlela and Samukelo Sindana on strike for Casric.

Pretoria Callies 1-0 Baroka FC

Baroka FC's tough start to the season continued and saw Pretoria Callies end a sixth-match winless at the expense courtesy of a 1-0 victory.

The defeat further dampens Bakgaga Ba Ga Mphahlele's chances to move up the table and are on a four-match run without a victory.

For Callies, the win allowed the chance to close-in towards the top eight bracket and interestingly enough are tied on nine points with Bakgaga on the table.
