'It’s in God’s hands' - Efstathiou ahead of season finale

Cape Town Spurs CEO Alexi Efstathiou has explained why they made no celebrations plans for Sunday's encounter against Pretoria University FC.

The Urban Warriors are leading the log table with only one match remaining, Spurs need only a win on the weekend to gain straight promotion to the DStv Premiership.

Though they may still have a second chance in the playoffs, it is going to be heart-breaking for Spurs if they fail to win against Tuks.

"We will only buy champagne on Monday, this is another league game for us," Efstathiou tells KickOff.

"But we will see, we will have something on stand-by, at the moment we don't even know where the trophy is going to be.

"As for fans, we just hoping we get 12 000 people. I think we will get the numbers because we already started selling tickets on Monday. I'm sure there are only a few left.

"We had to charge fans because we need to have control of what happens afterwards.

"We had to think of disaster management and all these things, we can't just host an event.

"As for playing Tuks this time of the season, I believe if you want to be in the DStv Premiership you have to play anyone, you don't have a choice.

"Our players know this; their bonus is the badge on the shirt. They all know how important the club in South African football is. The money should be secondary.

"It's long we've been in this league. Some people can't get married for five months, and we've been there for five years [as Ajax Cape Town].

"Do you remember at the beginning of the season the number 12 jersey was kept for the fans.

"So, they have to be there in numbers because they are also playing on Sunday.

"No promises. We must stay humble. It's in God's hands."

Kick-off at Athlone Stadium is at 15:00.
