GladAfrica Championship wrap

Free State Stars bounced back to winning ways on Wednesday afternoon with a 2-1 victory over TS Sporting at the Goble Park Stadium.

Ea Lla Koto were in the lead at halftime through strikes inside the half-hour mark from Masixole Nkewana and the on-form Moeketsi Sekola before Sporting got a glimmer of hope but to no avail.

Polokwane City inflicted a crushing 4-0 defeat on Richards Bay FC to put daylight between them and their counterparts.

Whilst it's successive losses for Richards Bay, the win see the Rise and Shine jump from mid-table into the top-half.

Winless Jomo Cosmos frustrations on all fronts continued after playing to a goalless draw against the Venda Football Academy in Thohoyandou.

Ezenkosi encountered an ill-tempered loss at Hungry Lions over the weekend, whilst the host played to another goalless clash against Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila in the Limpopo derby.

JDR Stars came from a one-goal deficit to edge bottom-placed Pretoria Callies 2-1 at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville.

Callies appeared set for the win after Keletso Sifama, on-loan from Kaizer Chiefs netted the opener but Malebogo Modise brought Stars level before Ishmael Wadi snatched the winner.

GladAfrica Championship league leaders Platinum City Rovers moved four points clear at the top of the table with a 1-0 win at Uthongathi FC on Tuesday afternoon.

Rovers dropped points for the first time this season following a goalless stalemate against Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila FC, but Zebulon Mtsweni's strike ensured no more dropped points.

Uthongathi, who enjoyed a run of three straight wins, have to now head back to the drawing board to remain in the top-half of the table.

Fellow new boys Hungry Lions FC continued their fine start to the season too after collecting a 1-1 draw away to Cape Town Spurs.

Lions struck first through a first goal for former Santos and Bloemfontein Celtic man Vuyisile Wana, but Spurs saw Diassonama Bunga respond with his first for the club too.

Black Leopards were prevented back-to-back victories as Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila wrestled for a 1-1 draw in the Limpopo derby.

Lidoda Duvha once again relied on Tiklas Thutlwa for the breakthrough before Tshakhuma saw Nicolas Motloung bail them out with the equaliser.

University of Pretoria snapped a run of successive draws and instead recorded an entertaining 3-2 victory over Cape Town All Stars.

It's the second win of the campaign for AmaTuks and it came through Samuel Julies, Sanele Barns and Luvuyo Phewa, whilst Ronaldo Maarman put the visitors on board.
