Another club in hot water over unpaid salaries

Brothers, right-back Lionel Saal and left-winger Devon Saal have reported Ezenkosi to the South African Football Players Union (SAFPU) over unpaid salaries.

"Devon Saal and his brother are both owed salaries by the club," SAFPU deputy-secretary general Taelo Calvin Motloung, tells KickOff.

"Devon was even ordered to a hearing by the club, only for the club management not to attend.

"Devon is owed a salary for the month of January, but unfortunately I cannot divulge how much, then his brother is owed a month's salary for April."

This is the latest in a series of controversial instances with clubs failing to pay either first-team players or management with a similar complaint also made against Marumo Gallants by former coach Sebastien Migne.

"Mr Sono is not even engaging with them, instead he sends Brice Aka to talk to them," SAFPU added.

"The supposed hearing was scheduled for 5 May, but no one from the club showed up, not even Brice Aka.

"The first hearing I attended, I was representing Devon, it was postponed.

"We are waiting for the Premier Soccer League to give us a date, as the matter is already with the PSL.

"Devon is owed an outstanding salary for two months, January and April.

"In March he received his salary, only for them to stop paying him again in April.

"Lionel is only owed the April salary."
