In this edition of Supporters Forum, KickOff speaks to Kaizer Chiefs die-hard supporter Andries "Lulu MP" Mzimba about his long-standing affair with the Glamour Boys.
The Emalahleni resident reveals how much trouble he has to go through just to watch his favorite team club playing live in Stadiums.
Name of supporter?
"My real name is Andries Vusi Mzimba, popularly known as Lulu MP. I'm based in Witbank in Mpumalanga province.
"In my area, I'm known as somebody who likes young children. So every time I came across a kid or child I would say to them, Hi Lulu! So each time I walk in the streets mothers would say to their children, here comes Lulu!
"That's how the name became popular. Now even girls call me Lulu. The name is now even in my ID book.
"I survive on odd jobs, I do wiring and fix electrical appliances for people. The money I get from these piece jobs I save it for a bus ticket for games that are played in places like Durban and Cape Town.
"Because in Cape Town I can't afford a hotel I buy a return ticket so I can sleep in the bus on my way back home.
"It's different with Durban because there are fellow supporters who offer me a place to sleep."
Club supported?
"I have always been a Khosi supporter. However, I took a small break from attending games after the death of people during a Soweto Derby at Ellis Park Stadium.
"There was also a time when I found a job at FNB Stadium as a forklift operator in 2010, I was employed by FIFA.
"I worked there during the construction of the Stadium up until my colleagues bewitched me. They hit me with a stroke, accusing me of trying to get them fired.
"I was blind for almost a year unable to see."
How long supported?
"I've been a Kaizer Chiefs fan for 22 years now. My father was a Khosi, he has all these Iwisa Total jerseys Chiefs used to wear back in the day. He used to be sick every time the Chiefs lost a match. At home, no one was allowed to support [Orlando] Pirates or [Mamelodi] Sundowns."
Are you happy with the bosses?
"I'm happy, what I hate the most is people who insult the coach or players during a match. As a supporter, you must always expect a win, a draw, and a loss.
"The situation we find ourselves in right now, I can say it is something every club went through at one stage. So it will pass."
Are you happy with the coach?
"I'm happy with the coach, how many times are we going to sack coaches? A coach is not the one playing."
Are you happy with the players?
"I'm happy with players because they've got a good material Chiefs this time around. The only thing missing are goals."
Who do you want them to sign?
"To be honest at the moment I don't have anybody in mind. I'm happy with the players we have, we will see as time goes by."
Your message to the team?
"They must stop playing to please the crowd, they must go direct they must play for goals. You win games by scoring more goals than the other team not by goal possession."
