MultiChoice Diski Challenge MDC wrap: Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates end 2016/17 season with wins

There were loads of goals in the six matches that kicked off at 10h00, a total of 23 in six matches, with four matches won by three clear goals.

Chiefs beat SuperSport United 2-1. Emmanuel Letlolo opened the scoring in the 17th minute with a pure striker’s finish from close range as he slid in to convert Luyanda Mdlalose’s pinpoint cross, the ball going through Ronwen Williams’ legs.

Six minutes later it was 2-0 when Yusuf Bunting was provided with the easiest of finishes unmarked at the far post following a great square ball by Letlotlo from the right.

SuperSport pulled a goal back in comical fashion in the 85th minute following a defensive mistake at the back by Amakhosi defender Khopotse, who allowed Mpho Mbebe an easy finish, and 2-1 it finished.

Elsewhere, Orlando Pirates beat Platinum Stars 4-1 at Royal Bafokeng Stadium with Grant Peters, Brian Hlongwa, Yusuf Maart and Candy Khaukanani netting for The Buccaneers.

Muzi Thabotha hit a hat-trick and Malesela Monene got a brace as Highlands Park crushed Bidvest Wits 4-1. Sizwe Twala and Dillon Sheppard scored for the Clever Boys.

Cape Town City are playing Mamelodi Sundowns in the 12h00 kick-off. The Brazilians need to win to secure the MDC title.

Title rivals Bloemfontein Celtic play Baroka FC at the same time and are a point behind Sundowns heading into the final two fixtures of the 2016/17 season.
