DRAFT: 23 games load in 17 weeks for Chiefs!

The bread-and-butter of what Nasreddine Nabi was employed to do at Kaizer Chiefs will have the Soweto giants pressed hard to avoid another dreadful campaign with their draft fixtures out for the new season.

Last season, Chiefs were a pale shadow and vulnerable in the league in what was Nabi’s first year at the club, with their ninth-place finish providing the evidence.

Twelve defeats and eight draws out of 28 games, plus a negative goal difference, was not the desired outcome for the Naturena-based side.

The list of fixtures, which are subject to change, have Amakhosi starting the season away at Stellenbosch FC on August 10 (Athlone Stadium – 17:30).

On Wednesday, August 13 (19:30), they will be at FNB Stadium against Polokwane City.

Chiefs will play 13 Betway Premiership matches by the time the league breaks for the AFCON finals to run from December 21, 2025, until January 18, 2026.

Bafana Bafana will be in Group B along Egypt, Angola, and Zimbabwe.

Hugo Broos’ team have their fixtures scheduled as follows: Angola (December 22), Egypt (December 26), and Zimbabwe (December 29).

For Chiefs, besides the league fixtures, they will also play in the Carling Knockout and the CAF Confederation Cup.

Their continental campaign will start in the preliminary round due to their low ranking.

This will mean CAF fixtures on September 19-21 and September 26-28 and if they go through to the next round, then October 17-19 and October 24-25.

Should they get into the group stage, then they will have two matches to play (November 21-23 and November 28-30) before the AFCON break.

This could come up to 23 games played upon the break provided that besides reaching the Confederation Cup group stage, they also reach the final of the Carking Knockout on December 6.
