Chiefs down to last man standing...

The start of Nasreddine Nabi's tenure as Kaizer Chiefs coach has come down to Rushwin Dortley standing out as the most prominent selection that the Tunisian-Belgian coach has made.

When Cedrick Muvhali blew the whistle to mark the end of Chiefs' 2-1 win over Richards Bay FC, Dortley was still on the pitch.

The 22-year-old has been the only player to feature in every minute for the Soweto giants this season.

He has played from start to finish in all six league games and the two in Carling Knockout, doing so after having arrived from Cape Town Spurs just days on from Chiefs returning from their pre-season camp in Turkey.

Of note is the fact that Dortley has put in a clean shift at left central defence, coming out with no yellow cards in all those games.

Two of his teammates at the back, Reeve Frosler and Inacio Miguel, have not only had cautions but have been sent off, while Bradley Cross has had his name marked with yellow at least twice.

The benefits of being a defender able to play clean means Dortley will establish himself as a regular at Amakhosi, having done the same at Bafana Bafana, where he was forever present in the six AFCON qualifiers.

Another plus is that Dortley is the youngest of all the signings that Chiefs made during the last month.

"I think for me, it has been about staying focused, working hard and knowing that I came to Jo'burg for work and not other things.

"That has helped me a lot, along with my family visiting me.

"So, the adaptation has been good so far and every player that is in Cape Town doesn't have to look at other players that didn't adapt well.

"They have to come and see for themselves because every player is different," says Dortley.
