Chiefs defender discloses dream come true

Kaizer Chiefs defender Rushwin Dortley has disclosed how he has come to make good his stay at the club to date.

Dortley is the only outfield player at Kaizer Chiefs to have played every minute in the club's seven matches to date and, in doing so, proving his worth.

The 22-year-old also played from start to finish all six AFCON qualifiers for Bafana Bafana, leaving nothing to doubt about how rapid his rise has been.

While Chiefs have had issues, none of them have been related to left central defence with Dortley playing all his matches for club and country this season without even getting a caution.

"The past few months have been a dream come true," says Dortley in response to KickOff.com's question about the past few months.

"It is not easy for someone to just come into a big club like this and start the games, go into Bafana and start games continuously.

"It has been a blessing, and I can only thank the Man Above for giving me this talent, blessing me to perform every day at training in order for the coach to choose me to start every game," he says while speaking on the attention that comes with being at Chiefs.

"For me, I know there will be the bad and good comments in the media and all of those things.

"But you have to stay focused on the goal that you have set for yourself.

"Stay humble.

"Stay grounded and not always be on social media on a regular because then you will get attached to the stuff and get dragged away from your initial move when you came here, which was to play football and help the club.

"If you continue doing that, you will get... I wouldn't say get big headed, but you will forget what you came here to do, so for me, it is just to stay humble and calm," says Dortley.
