Kaizer Chiefs legend Gardner Seale has reacted strongly to comments made by the club's former goalkeeper, Itumeleng Khune, regarding coach Nasredine Nabi.
During the football highlights show SoccerZone on SABC, Khune criticized Nabi for listening to music on his headphones before a match.
While many viewed the coach's actions positively, seeing them as a way to foster team spirit and create a relaxed atmosphere, Khune claimed that Nabi's behavior worsened matters by passing his headphones to the young player Mfundo Vilakazi.
Seale expressed his thoughts in an interview with KickOff.com, saying: "In reality, there's nothing wrong with what the coach did; I personally don't see any issue." He added, "However, because the team is not performing well, people tend to focus on small details and blow them out of proportion."
He emphasized, "This is merely a minor issue. The real problem is the team's performance, and everyone looks to the head coach for answers. If the team were doing well, Nabi's actions would likely be seen as completely normal."
Seale noted that different people have their own methods for staying calm and focused; for some, listening to music helps them pass the time or motivates them.
"If I were Nabi and listening to music worked for me, I would continue doing so," he said.
While Seale expressed his admiration for Khune, he ultimately believed that the former goalkeeper was being overly harsh on Nabi.
"Khune is being too harsh on Nabi."
