Castillo’s blessing in disguise at Chiefs

Castillo suffered a fractured fibula towards the end of October and the estimate of his absence was put at between four to five months.

This puts his return for March, which will be three months before the expiry of the two-year deal that he signed when joining at the beginning of last season.

There is an optional year for the Venezuelan international.

"He has so much time to himself now, which he should try and use for English lessons because language is important," says a retired South American who played in South Africa.

"The time that he was using to go to training should now be used for taking English classes in between gym work and the hospital visits.

"I know that some South Americans can be so stubborn in embracing the need to learn English lessons, but in this case, he needs it.

"Once you can communicate in a language that most of your teammates understand, it makes easier.

"I know it is easier for him because there are other guys who understand what he says in Spanish (Gaston Sirino, Edmilson Dove, Inacio Miguel, and Lehlogonolo Matlou), but he needs to go with a language that is understood by all in the team.

"This injury can be turned into benefit for him this way.

"That way, your integration becomes easier, and you don't feel lost even when going out to the local grocery store.

"I was once in the same situation as him and used my time to improve my English, which has come to good use for me now in retirement," says the Brazilian, who is now back home.
