Ben Youssef reveals 'problems inside Chiefs'

Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef has mentioned some of the culture shocks the new-look technical team faced as a reason for their slow start as a new technical team.

Expectations were high on Chiefs' new technical team, led by head coach Nasreddine Nabi, who came with his own experts.

However, after winning their first two matches, they faded and struggled to progress through the gears.

Even though it was clear that the Soweto giants need attacking reinforcements, their progression appeared slow, with the results inconsistent.

Ben Youssef, standing in for the suspended Nabi ahead of the Nedbank Cup round of 32 clash against Free Agents on Sunday, has admitted that they had challenges adapting to the PSL.

"When you start a new project, there's a lot of problems inside. The problem is that it's a different league. I speak about myself... I was in a different leagues, in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the Emirates, Tunisia, Morocco," Ben Youssef told journalists in a pre-match press conference.

"To be honest with you, this league is totally different to other leagues. For us, it was not tough, but we took a lot of time to understand this league.

"Secondly, we were unlucky with injuries/ We had a lot injuries and all injuries are fracture."

Ben Youssef also revealed some players at Chiefs lacked tactical understanding and it took them time to grasp their game model.

"When you speak about players, some players are so smart when you speak to them about our game model. One or two times, done," he went on.

"There is another type of players that we have to repeat a lot of time with them, because to be honest with you, they don't have a deep background in tactics.

"So, we try to make individual meetings to explain to them. Some players play like there was no development when they were young, just without tactic, and they took a lot of time to understand our model game," explained the Tunisian.
