EXCLUSIVE | Agent: Why Chiefs signed Cross

Kaizer Chiefs defender Bradley Cross' agent Matthew Moore has opened up on the 23-year-old's move finally coming full circle after initially landing at Naturena two years ago.

Cross is one of the new signings at Chiefs, including the likes of Gaston Sirino, Rushwin Dortley and Inacio Miguel, with a new technical team after being announced on a four-year contract from Golden Arrows during the off-season.

The player, who has already made a good start under head coach Nasreddine Nabi at left-back, was initially not signed after he arrived on assessment at the Naturena Village grounds.

KickOff spoke exclusively to Moore, of Centre Circle, to find out why a deal could not materialise at the time, before Cross was eventually signed by Maritzburg United.

"At the time, there was a set of circumstances that made Chiefs take the decision they did and we went in a different direction," Moore told this website.

"But at the end of the day, everything happens for a reason. It's great that everything has come full circle for him and now he is back at Chiefs. I think he's a great player and he will make an impact."

The left-footed star has quickly become one of the fan-favourites and Moore believes he proved himself at Arrows last term.

"The fans who watched him last season at Arrows know what he can do. He's a very intelligent player, he's got a very good football IQ. I think he can take his game to the next level at Chiefs," noted Moore.

The technically gifted defender got his first call-up to Bafana Bafana while he was still at Abafana Bes'thende, but the agent does not think head coach Hugo Broos putting a stamp of approval on the 23-year-old made the club change their minds.

"Obviously, it helped to be part of the national team and he's honoured to be part of the national team, but Kaizer Jr [Sporting Director] and the technical team at Chiefs, I think they did their homework on Bradley.

"He was on their radar, they knew what characteristics he could bring to the team. I don't think the Bafana call-up changed the outcome in any way. Chiefs were clear on the technical qualities of a player and decided to bring him in," explained the agent.
