Chiefs provide important updates ahead of Downs meeting

Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Cedric Kaze has given updates on injuries with specific interest on top-performing defender Aden McCarthy.

McCarthy has stood out as a left-footed central defender partnering Inacio Miguel, coming out with two Man of the Match awards.

Unfortunate was that injury then forced him out in the first half against Richards Bay FC last week Tuesday.

"About Aden, he hasn’t trained since that day (match against Richards Bay)," says Kaze.

"The medical staff are working very hard to put him back on the field.

"But we will have to wait and see how he does tomorrow (Tuesday) to decide whether he will be part of the game (against Sundowns) or not.

"Apart from that, as well we have (Nkanyiso) Shinga and (Bradley) Cross that have been sick the last two days.

"Then also (Etiosa) Ighodaro, who joined training two days ago.

"Apart from that, everyone is well and ready for the game," he added.

The 21-year-old made his first-team debut in May and has looked a perfect fit in the absence of Rushwin Dortley, who is injured, just like fellow central defender Given Msimango.

Kaze was also asked about Dortley and Msimango, who are yet to play this season.

"Those are injuries that have been there for a long time.

"Msimango is doing better, but it’s not players that we believe that will be with us at least this month (August).

"Probably, Msimango, next month," says Kaze.
