Mzwakhe Mbuli pens song for Royal Eagles Football Club

Liverpool have ‘You'll Never Walk Alone’, Bloemfontein Celtic have ‘Siwelele sa Masele’; now National First Division side Royal Eagles FC have their own theme song composed by famed poet and musician Mzwakhe Mbuli.

“Our theme song is easy to sing. It instils a sense of pride to the players and will inspire them to go for glory,” said Royal Eagles FC co-founder and chairman, Sbu Mpisane.

The People’s Poet as Mbuli is affectionately known, described the song as a labour of love which he hopes will galvanise the ambitious club.

“Our theme song, titled ‘The Royal Eagles’ will send shivers down the opposition’s spines and inspire the Royal Eagles FC to better heights,” said the former anti-Apartheid activist.

“The Eagles have landed. They will spread their wings to all corners of the globe; the Royal Eagles will add value to the beautiful game.”

The song is due for release this festive season and will be played at all Royals Eagles home games.
