Pyramids complete R100-million signing of Ramadan Sobhi from Huddersfield

Pyramids FC have completed one of the most controversial signings in Egyptian football history by securing a record transfer of Ramadan Sobhi from Huddersfield United.

The ambitious club announced Sobhi has signed a lucrative five-year deal as he snubbed a return to his boyhood club Ahly for a transfer that eclipses the $5-million (R85m) the Red Devils spent on Hussein El-Shahat from Al Ain.

Currently, in the CAF Confederation Cup semi-finals, Pyramids have made remarkable strides since Emirati investor Salem Al Shamsi completed a takeover from eccentric Turki Al-Sheikh of Saudi Arabia.

But the signal of intent doesn't get any bigger than the signing of the 23-year-old who is widely considered as the most talented footballer since Mohamed Salah and Mohamed Aboutrika in Egyptian football.

It's believed that the ambitious outfit have forked out over R100-million to lure him from the English side and reject Rene Weiler's outfit, where he spent the half of the coronavirus interrupted 2019/20 season.
