Erasmus was linked with the Egyptian giants in the recent transfer window, with the player even receiving an 'offer', which his agent Rob Moore later confirmed to be a scam from a ‘fly-by-night’ agent.
The Port Elizabeth-born attacker has finally given comment on the matter.
“No [I will not be out to prove something to Zamalek], for me it’s just about giving my best for the team,” said Erasmus during his club’s media day at the Rand Stadium.
“It’s not about the rumours or the speculation that has been going on in the media about who wants me and who doesn’t want me, it’s where I am, and I’m doing my best for Orlando Pirates.”
Asked whether he would consider a move to the North African country, the 25-year-old insists he is at a big club where he’s comfortable and given the necessary platform to express himself and grow.
“[Pirates] is the biggest club in South Africa, and I think I’m at a place where I’m comfortable and I’m trying to improve everyday,” Erasmus said.
“I’m given the platform to showcase what I’m capable of and I think I had the best season last season, since I came back to South Africa [from the Netherlands], and I just want to improve on that.
“For me it’s just about doing what I love doing and being comfortable. My family’s comfortable and everybody is at ease, so it’s just for me to display what I’m capable of.”
Pirates will face Zamalek in a CAF Confederation Cup Group B clash in Cairo on Sunday night.
