Dumisa Ngobe: Orlando Pirates take CAF Confederation Cup seriously

Orlando Pirates legend Dumisa Ngobe says the club should be commended for crushing Botswana's BTC Premiership club Jwaneng Galaxy as it shows thet don't undermine CAF tournaments.

The Buccaneers beat their hosts 3-0 on Sunday afternoon and gave themselves a good chance of qualifying for the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Ngobe says the fact that his former team achieved the result against a team that campaigns in a semi-professional league should not dilute the achievement.

Some of the players in Botswana play football as a part-time job as they have second jobs somewhere else.

"The only thing that I will tell you is that Irvin [Khoza] takes CAF games seriously, the same way he does with the league," Ngobe tells snl24.com/kickoff.

"When playing CAF, Pirates puts the country first. It shows Pirates, they actually don't undermine CAF, they respect it. Pirates have got respect when it comes to conquering CAF.

"The result puts them on an advantage going into the second leg for them to go to the next round you understand. Pirates do not joke around when it comes to CAF.

"Because with this on-and-off Pirates of these days, you will never know what is going to happen you understand, and it will be a shame if tomorrow let's say they were to be beaten by clubs made up of teachers, police... it would bring the name of the club down."
