CAF Confederation Cup match report Young Buffaloes v Bidvest Wits 14 September 2019

Bidvest Wits suffered a 1-0 loss to eSwatini's Young Buffaloes in the CAF Confederation Cup first-round, first-leg tie on Saturday afternoon.

Wits, who haven't done well in recent continental excursions, bowed out in the first hurdle of the Confederation Cup and CAF Champions League in the last four years.

The Students participated in the last two Confederation Cup tournaments but were booted out by Nigeria's Enyimba in the play-off round last year and by Egypt's Smouha the year before.

The Clever Boys have also surrendered a healthy first-leg victory to lose the overall tie such as in the preliminary round four years ago against eSwatini side Royal Leopards.

After Saturday's first-leg loss to Buffaloes, many South Africans will be hoping the Students put their act together and overturn the deficit in the return leg on their home turf.

Plus with a solid league form too, expect the Braamfontein-based side to come out renewed and revitalised in a fortnight's time.
