CAF Confederation Cup match report TS Galaxy v St Louis Suns 11 August 2019

TS Galaxy defeated St Louis Suns United FC 1-0 in their CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round first-leg encounter on Sunday afternoon.

Galaxy, who made a slow start in the opening minutes, were given a lifeline to go in front with a 15th minute penalty following a handball in the area. The resultant set-play was scuffed by captain Bathusi Aubaas, with the Islanders given a second bite of the cherry.

Galaxy atoned just before halftime when good work from the middle set-up Thero Setsile, who needed no second invitation with a close-range finish.

Louis came out firing for the second half, throwing bodies forward in search of the equaliser but the home side held their ground. Galaxy meanwhile, kept the ball on the ground with their short passing movements and hard-running proving difficult for the visitors.

The tempo dropped afterwards, with neither side able to carve out each other with Galaxy silently pushing towards a second.
