CAF Confederation Cup match report TS Galaxy v CNaPS Sport

TS Galaxy continued their winning form in the CAF Confederation Cup after edging Madagascan side CNaPS Sport 1-0 in the second-round on Sunday afternoon at Mbombela Stadium.

The Rockets got to this stage of the tournament after knocking out Saint Louis Suns United of Seychelles 2-0 on aggregate in the preliminary round.

Dan Malesala's troops kept themselves in shape during the FIFA break by winning the Nedbank Cup Ke Yona challenge trophy last weekend, which would have reignited the memories of beating Kaizer Chiefs in the proper final at the end of last season.

The GladAfrica Championship outfit had a dream start as Sanele Barns grabbed an early lead in the fifth minute, to settle the nerves for the hosts.

CNaPs were forceful in the early stages of the second stanza, not giving the hosts time and space on the ball, with particularly rough tackling that saw Sihle Nduli going out with a broken wrist in the 67th minute.

Malesela was looking for more goals in the closing stages as he brought on Tshegofatso Nyama in place of Samukelo Shangase but they could not add to their tally and had to settle for the 1-0 victory.

The second-leg of the encounter will take place on Friday 27 September,.
