Having been led by Fouzi Lekjaa before his rise to CAF vice-president last year, their former chairman set the building blocks towards their run to the final last year where they lost to Zamalek on penalties.
But their disappointment fueled them to an unlikely title pursuit against Casablanca giants Wydad and Raja, with the latter securing the crown on a dramatic final day of the season.
Not to be denied their glory, Burkina Faso defender Issoufou Dayo netted the only goal in the game on Sunday evening as they down the Egyptian money-bags who were touted as favourites for the title.
The Berkane-based side will now face either Al Ahly, Zamalek or domestic rivals Raja in the CAF Super Cup scheduled for 2021.
