Zamalek president Mortada Mansour comments on Patrice Carteron managerial future

Despite the recent upheaval that's become the norm under the eccentric leadership of Mansour since rising to power at the White Knights, Carteron has managed to lead the club to the brink of history.

Since replacing 'Micho' in December, the former Al Ahly boss has suffered only two defeats in 20 games, while lifting the CAF and Egyptian Super Cup honours.

While the league title race against his the Red Devils may be in tatters after the Cairo Derby debacle, Zamalek are potentially just three games away from African Champions League glory.

And Mansour, who made the Frenchman his 17th permanent head coach within six years suggested his stay may be extended beyond the current season.

"Carteron informed us that he renews his contract at the end of each season and only signs a one-year contract, which is normal for club managers."

Zamalek will face off against Raja Casablanca in the Champions League with either Al Ahly or Wydad Casablanca awaiting for the final clash in Cameroon.
