Official: TP Mazembe crowned Vodacom Ligue 1 champions for record 18th time

TP Mazembe have been crowned Vodacom Ligue 1 champions for a record 18th time after The Congolese Association Football Federation (FECOFA) cancelled the 2019/20 season.

Mazembe have retained their title after just 20 games played this season, with 53 points amassed before the novel coronavirus suspended football in the Democratic Republic of Congo last month.

Mihayo Kazembe's side will be joined in the 20120/21 CAF Champions League campaign by AS Vita, who finished runners-up with 42 points in 21 games, while Maniema Union and Motema Pembe has qualified for the Confederation Cup.

The result of the cancellation has also affected the relegation and promotion, with Jeunesse Sportive de Kinshasa and Étoile Jaune of Lubumbashi now set for top-flight football - which sees Bukavu Dawa and Nyuki dropping down to Ligue 2.

The decision by FECOFA marks the fourth African league cancelled after the Kenyan Premier League, Angolan Girabola and the Guinean top-flight.
