How Al Ahly approached Sundowns for Gaston Sirino after Champions League clash revealed?

Sirino, 29, is said to have caught the eye of the record eight-time CAF Champions League winners this season, during their quarter-final clash with the Sundowns.

The Uruguayan, who's the highest chance creator in Africa's elite club competition this season, has been identified as a potential replacement for Egypt international Ramadan Sobhi.

And while Masandawana is said to have made their stance clear on Sirino's future, Khaled Ali, in charge of the club's logistics in North Africa has revealed how the interest started.

Speaking to Egyptian news channel On-Time Sports, Ali claimed the Egyptian giants requested he should enquire out about the Sirino's availability.

"Al-Ahly asked us verbally to include Sirino after the second-leg match between us," Ali explained.

"I spoke to the coach of the team, Pitso Mosimane, but he informed me of his need for the player to compete for the CAF Champions League title next season.

"This is also the management's decision, and the player has a three-year contract with the club. So the final decision is to keep the player."

Sirino has scored 22 goals and registered 26 assists in 90 games for the Brazilians since joining the club from Bolivian outfit Bolivar La Paz in January 2018.
