Zakri, 29, joined Sundowns in six years ago after emerging as one of the leading performers on the continent with standout displays in the CAF Champions League, scoring exceptional goals against Al Ahly and Wydad AC in the 2015/16 season.
His form earned him a place in the Ivory Coast senior national team before then-Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane lured him to Chloorkop to bolster his attacking options for the continental competition.
But his stay in Mzansi proved rather unsuccessful as he went out on loan to the now-defunct Ajax Cape Town and Maritzburg United after failing to command a regular starting berth with the Brazilians.

Dennis Lota (Zambia) – The late 'Chesa Mpama' scored 74 goals in his PSL career and still holds the record for the most goals scored in a single season at Orlando Pirates (23).

Jean-Marc Ithier (Mauritius) - He was 34 when he came to the PSL and still reached double figures in each of his first five seasons, scoring 71 goals in total for Santos.

Wilfred Mugeyi (Zimbabwe) - 'Silver Fox' top-scored with 23 goals in the 1996/97 season and scored 91 times in the PSL era. He scored 113 for Bush Bucks including pre-96 goals.

Benjani Mwaruwari (Zimbabwe) - Another EPL success, he scored 20 goals in 45 starts for Jomo Cosmos, then 21 goals for Chippa United and Wits despite being beyond 34 by then.

Knowledge Musona (Zimbabwe) - Came to SA at a young age and made a huge impact. 'Silent Assassin' is still a legend after scoring 44 goals in 74 matches over two spells at Chiefs.

Collins Mbesuma (Zambia) - The only foreigner who has played for all of Chiefs, Sundowns and Pirates. 'Ntofontofo' has banged in 103 goals in PSL competitions and is still going.

Peter Ndlovu (Zimbabwe) - The Warriors legend became a cult hero in England and came to the PSL when he was past his prime in 2004 but still scored 31 goals in 65 starts for Downs.

Chris Katongo (Zambia) – Another one Jomo Sono got right, he netted 38 goals in 85 starts for Cosmos, Arrows and Wits and in 2006/07 top-scored (15) despite playing half-a-season.

Manuel Bucuane (Mozambique) - Spotted by Jomo Sono, 'Tico-Tico' scored 106 goals in 276 starts including pre-PSL era for Jomo Cosmos, SuperSport, Pirates and Maritzburg.

Raphael Chukwu (Nigeria) - Chukwu's 63 goals in 124 starts for Mamelodi Sundowns made a huge impact in the club winning three league titles between 1998 and 2000.
After scoring 11 goals and registering five assists in 63 games across all competitions during his three-year spell in South African football, the Ivory Coast international moved on to the Middle-East with stints at Naft Al-Wasat and Al-Faisaly.
While he briefly played in the Asian Champions League for the Jordanian giants, Zakri has now opted to return home with the 1998 African champions to reinvigorate his once-promising career.
