Hugo Broos reveals Bafana Bafana selection headache

Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has revealed his disappointment with the long list of injuries ploughing his squad ahead of two upcoming friendlies.

The squad has begun preparations for Thursday's international friendly clash against Mozambique and the Belgian coach has expressed some frustration.

"I'm here with mixed feelings, on the one side [I'm feeling] happiness, on the other side, disappointment," Broos told journalists.

"Happiness because on the one side we are in a fantastic location here, for training sessions. Also so everything is very good here, one step far away, it's fantastic to be here. I'm happy also because we have a camp in November. I said already a few months ago that we needed that camp."

The Belgian went on to reveal that his plans have been slightly disrupted by a stretching list of injuries.

"Disappointed because we can't follow the plan. The plan was to play those two matches [Mozambique and Angola] with the guys who were there in September," Broos added.

"Not all the guys, but let's say 75% of that. So when you see the list of injuries for the moment. We have [Thibang] Phete who is injured, we have Sithole, we have [Innocent] Maela and [Nkosinathi] Sibisi. We have [Mihlali] Mayambela, we have [Lyle] Foster and then we have two guys Percy [Tau] and [Terrence] Mashego who aren't playing at their clubs."

"There are a lot of players who are not there, therefore a little bit disappointed because the plan was to play, certainly, to start with have the same team that played against Sierra Leone."

Following the Mozambique clash, Bafana will then lock horns with Angola on Sunday at the same venue. Both friendlies are in preparations for the 2023 Afcon qualifiers to be planned in March next year.
