Hugo Broos explains advantage of having Themba Zwane

Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos was full of praise for Mamelodi Sundowns attacking winger Themba Zwane following the side's 1-1 draw against Angola.

Zwane has started three of Bafana's four matches since his return to the national team in September. The 33-year-old provided a sublime assist for Bongokuhle Hlongwane's first of two goals during Thursday's encounter against Mozambique.

Following the another impressive performance against Angola, Broos has spoken brightly of Zwane importance to the side.

"The advantage with Themba [Zwane] is that he's an experienced player," Broos said post match.

"In the young team we have, he's important also and secondly, as you see the games we played with him, he's very important for us so he's placed between the lines, he's very smart.

"How to do it? I don't have to tell him, I don't tell him, I just ask him to do it. He knows where he has to go. Most of the time with his position, he's free, we can give him the ball, he can keep the ball, so yes he's become very important for us."

The draw against Angola means an end Bafana's three-game winning and Broos will now prepare the side for the crucial Afcon qualifiers to be played in March.

South Africa will host Liberia on 20 March 2023 before traveling to West Africa to play the reverse fixture eight days later.
