France manager coach Didier Deschamps has outlined the potential threat posed by the Bafana Bafana squad ahead of Tuesday's international friendly. Les Bleus – ranked third on the latest FIFA standings – come up against South Africa – down in position 68 – in what could be viewed as a mismatch from a distance and certain to benefit Hugo Broos' men more. However, Deschamps has still taken care of knowing what his team will be up against at the Stade Pierre Mauroy. "I know the offensive players better," he said ahead of the match before then identifying them. "Dolly (Keagan) is an interesting player. The two forwards…Letsoalo (Victor) and the other one…Makgopa (Evidence) and Brooks (Ethan), the young player," points out Deschamps who will take charge of his first-ever game against Bafana Bafana. This will be the fifth meeting between the two countries with the French preparing to defend their World Cup title while Bafana are sharpening up for the AFCON qualifiers. "Even though this is a friendly game, we are preparing for the 2022 World Cup. This gives us the opportunity to play against an African team, and this is not always the case for us. "For example, against South Africa, the last time was in 2010 at the World Cup. "In the next World Cup, we may play against African nations and those teams might have the same qualities, the same style of play that South Africa has," he notes adding that they are aware of what is happening with Bafana. Broos has turned to youth in reviving the fortunes of Bafana. "South Africa has a new generation of players. "To me, it explains why South Africa didn't qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations or the World Cup. "There are a lot of local players who do not have a lot of international experience. But obviously, we have watched South Africa's games, several of their last games and I also watched the last game against Guinea. "But I don't think it will be the same team, because there are a lot of young players," says the former Chelsea midfielder.Related tags
