Bafana climb one place in latest FIFA world rankings

Bafana Bafana have climbed to their highest position in the FIFA world rankings since 2016 following last month's friendly international wins over Sierra Leone and Botswana.

The South Africa men's national team has climbed to 67th position in the world after recording back-to-back victories during the September international break.

Hugo Broos' side trounced Sierra Leone 4-0 before recording a narrow 1-0 win over Botswana to climb to their highest placing in the FIFA rankings since the end of the 2016 calendar year, when Bafana Bafana occupied the 60th position.

The national team is expected to reconvene during the November break although it remains to be confirmed which friendlies, if any, will take place.

Elsewhere, Brazil have retained their status as the world's leading nation while 18th-placed Senegal remain the highest-ranked country on the African continent.

Azerbaijan and Scotland gained the most places, climbing five spots each, while Norway suffered the biggest drop after slipping down six positions in the latest ranking.
