Bafana Bafana assistant coach resigns

SAFA has announced the departure of Bafana Bafana assistant coach Cedomir Janevski in a blow to Belgian head coach Hugo Broos.

Janevski handed in his resignation with immediate effect from the Bafana technical team after reportedly receiving an enticing managerial offer to coach abroad.

The Macedonian coach was recruited for the Bafana position after being recommended by Broos as a close confidant.

SAFA CEO Tebogo Motlanthe confirmed that local assistant Helman Mkhalele will fulfil the duties vacated by Janevski as an assistant coach.

"I have informed the SAFA NEC about the amicable parting of ways of assistant coach Cedomir.

"He had an opportunity to go and coach overseas," said Mothlanti.

"After holding discussions with the men's national team coach we then agreed we should not deny him the opportunity.

"So we decided to part ways even though we have a running contract in place and further to that the coach said he is more comfortable to have one assistant.

"So going forward Mkhalele will be the only assistant coach."
