The TotalEnergies African Nations Championship Algeria 2022 qualifiers draw has been confirmed.
Bafana will have been pitted against Comoros.
The two-legged tie against the Indian Ocean Island nation will be played on July 22-24 and July 29-31.
The winner of this tie then meets either Mauritius or Angola in August/September to determine one of the three countries from the COSAFA region that will then proceed to the finals in Algeria from January 8-31 next year.
Next year's tournament will be the seventh edition with South Africa having only qualified twice.
A poor showing as hosts at the 2014 edition of the competition led to then Sports Minister Fikile Mbalula referring to Bafana as a bunch of losers.
The CHAN tournament caters only for players plying their trade in their home countries.
Bafana has failed to qualify for the last three editions of the tournament.
South Africa's national team for this tournament used to be nicknamed Amabineplaas.
