Agent reacts to ex-Downs striker overlooked by Broos

Sekhukhune United striker Keletso Makgalwa's agent has reacted to the former Mamelodi Sundowns forward missing out on two Bafana Bafana squads doing duty this week.

When Bafana head coach Hugo Broos initially named a 41-man preliminary squad, without Mamelodi Sundowns players - reserved ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup - a number of PSL players would have been looking forward to making the list.

Especially since the matches will be friendly internationals against Tanzania and Mozambique.

However, Makgalwa, after finishing the season as the leading marksman when it comes to assists, with 11 in the Betway Premiership, did not make the cut and so it was no surprise that he did not make the final 23, which featured new entrants strikers such as Ndamulelo Maphangule of Polokwane City, AmaZulu's Tshepang Moremi, Yanela Mbuthuma of Richards Bay and Sinoxolo Kwayiba of Chippa United.

"We're hard done but we will just continue getting better because at the end of the day it's the coach's decision, the only thing we can do is just getting better, getting our numbers better," Makgalwa's agent Ntobatsi Masegela of Footballerz Sports Marketing reacted when queried by KickOff.com.

"Because looking at it, he came from NFD (National First Division) with 17 goal contributions, he comes to the PSL, he has 15 goal contributions. He is the only player with more Man of the Match awards the whole season, with six.

"So it's all about what the coach wants. What we can all do is just perform on the field. If we're not selected, it just means we need to improve, maybe. But we're just hard done," Masegela said.

A different COSAFA squad was also announced shortly thereafter, with Vela Khumalo in charge in a tournament that starts this week.

The former Sundowns striker was left out of the COSAFA Cup squad, with Khumalo selecting five Kaizer Chiefs players.

"He played in the Under 20 World Cup, to us it's a surprise. At Sekhukhune, first season back, with so many numbers, he did well," Masegela went on.

"If coach Hugo is not in the same wavelength as us, all we have to do is to get better. Next season we'll come back and do better. There's nothing we can do," the agent concluded.
