Three-time champions Mamelodi Sundowns will do battle against 2018 winners Cape Town City at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday to determine which club will be crowned victorious in the latest edition of the MTN 8.
The two teams head into the encounter boasting this season's two leading goalscorers in the competition, with Masandawana's Peter Shalulile and the Citizens' Surprise Ralani having both netted a tournament-high two goals thus far.
That tally was enough to see Orlando Pirates Thembinkosi Lorch finish as top scorer last season, albeit that he shared that honour with Victor Letsoalo, Mogakolodi Ngele, Ghampani Lungu and Yagan Sasman.
SuperSport United's Thamsanqa Gabuza, Bradley Grobler and Jeremy Brockie top-scored in the three consecutive seasons before that, prior to which Bidvest Wits' Daine Klate and Eleazar Rodgers did the business during the Clever Boys' trophy-winning campaign.
Other free-scoring forwards include Ajax Cape Town legend Nathan Paulse, ex-Kaizer Chiefs star George Maluleka, Siphelele Mthembu, the once mercurial Lerato Chabangu and Thembinkosi Fanteni.
